7 Jan 2025 5:04 PM | Tim Reynolds (Administrator)

The Arts Society Brussels opens its 2025 season with a lecture by Professor Luc Duerloo on ‘Artistic Patronage in the Reign of the Archdukes Albert and Isabelle’ on Wednesday 15 January 2025 at the Maison Communale of Woluwe St. Lambert, Avenue Paul Hymans 2, 1200 Brussels. Doors open for complimentary drinks at 19h30 with the talk beginning at 20h00.

The first quarter of the 17th century saw an explosion of artistic talent in the Habsburg Netherlands. Among the many artists of note, Rubens, Van Dyck and Jordaens immediately come to mind. Professor Duerloo’s lecture will explore the Court of the Archduke Albert and Isabella's role in this fascinating period.

Luc Duerloo is a professor emeritus at the University of Antwerp, where he taught early modern political history. In 1998 he was curator of the exhibition Albert Isabella, 1598-1621 at the Royal Museums of Art and History in Brussels.

The talk is open to all. For more information and registration details, click here.
