The Truth Recovery Programme (TRP) of the Northern Ireland Executive Office has recently launched a public consultation on proposals to establish a statutory Inquiry for those affected by Northern Ireland Mother and Baby Institutions, Magdalene Laundries, Workhouses and their pathways and practices; and a Financial Redress Scheme Truth Recovery – Public Consultation.
The public consultation commenced on 27 June and will run for a period of 12-weeks to 19 September 2024. This may be an issue of interest to former residents of Northern Ireland, including those affected by the institutions, and, via the UK Embassy in Belgium, we are helping to spread the word as far as possible. Please feel free to relay this information to anyone you know who may wish to contribute to the consultation.
The 12-week public consultation covers proposals to establish a statutory Inquiry for those affected by Mother and Baby Institutions, Magdalene Laundries, Workhouses and their pathways and practices, and an associated Financial Redress Scheme. The consultation hopes to hear from as many people as possible who may have been affected by these issues.
The consultation documents and the schedule of online events are available on the Truth Recovery website which can be accessed by clicking on Truth Recovery – Public Consultation.
If you would like a hard copy of the questionnaire or have other queries, then you can contact the TRP via trpconsultation@executiveoffice-ni.gov.uk or phone +44 28 90 520 063.

- 08 August 2024 from 10.00am – 12.00 pm (BST)
